ANTONIO CUENCA CASTELLO
Born in Xeraco (Valencia). He began his studies at the Conservatory of Music of Valencia in the subjects of trumpet, piano, harmony, counterpoint, fugue, composition and instrumentation, obtaining the honorable mention in the specialty of composition.
He has also studied band, choir and orchestra conducting with professors Juan Espinosa, Francisco Cabrelles, José Rafael Pascual Vilaplana and Franco Cesarinni, later expanding his training with Denise Ham, professor of orchestra at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
As a composer he has won several prizes in composition competitions: we must highlight three first prizes, one in Benidorm, 1999, and another in Muro de Alcoi, 2009, with the work for symphonic band "Dodecaedro Sonoro", and another recently (2011), convened by the "CESM" (Spanish confederation of musical societies), with the symphonic work "ONIROS".
He has been conductor of the polyphonic choir "Ciutat d'Alcira", of the "Associació Musical El Verger" and of the "Grup Tardor" (group of voices and pulse and pua instruments). Since 2000 he has been the titular director of the "Unión Musical Xeraco", and since 2012 of the "Societat Instructiva Unió Musical de Xeresa".
In the field of music teaching he has been professor of solfège and trumpet at the music school of Xeraco, professor of solfège at the music school of Alfás del Pi, professor of harmony, counterpoint and analysis at the professional conservatory "Districte Marítim" of Grau de Gandia and at the higher conservatories of music of Valencia, Castellón and Alicante. Currently, and since 2006, he is a teacher by competitive examination at the municipal professional conservatory "José Pérez Barceló" of Benidorm.
