JOSE MIGUEL FAYOS JORDAN
Born in Chella (Valencia). He studied at the "Joaquín Rodrigo" Higher Conservatory of Music in Valencia where he obtained the title of Higher Professor of Composition, culminating his career with the "Extraordinary Award". Some of his teachers include: R. Ramos, G. Jiménez, E. Sanz-Burguete, C. Cano, E. Calandín and F. Tamarit, among others.
He has won several composition awards among them; First Prize in the II International Composition Competition "Ciudad de Torrevieja", Edition Prize in the Young Composers Competition "Hui, hui música" (2006) and selection and premiere of works in the same (2004, 2006 and 2008), First Prize in the I Iberoamerican Competition of composition for band "Villa de Ortigueira", Prize for composition and commission in the III Permanent Seminar of Composition organized by the IVM, Prize of the European Creation Musical Workshop 2013 and 2nd Prize "Carmelo Alonso Bernaola" in the XXIV prize of Young composers Fundación Autor/Sgae-CNDM.
His works have been performed and premiered at Festivals and Auditoriums such as ENSEMS, Hui hui música, La Mancha International Music Festival, Palau de la Música in Valencia, Sala SGAE-Valencia, Club Diario Levante, Auditorio Nacional de Música de Madrid, Casa da Musica (Oporto), Palau de Les Arts Reina Sofía, Auditorio 400 MNCARS and by groups such as Ensemble Art's XXI, Grup Instrumental de Valencia, Portuguese Symphonic Band, Pulsar Ensemble or Orchester d'Harmonie (Conservatoire Strasbourg).
In May 2007 his work "Cantos desde el olvido" was premiered, commissioned as a tribute to the Cervantes Prize winner A. Gamoneda, based on texts by the same poet. He has received commissions from institutions such as Instituto Valenciano de la Música and Grup Instrumental de Valéncia.
He has attended courses, meetings and masterclasses with J.M López, J.Mª Sánchez-Verdú, C. Halffter, R. Bischof, L. Balada, T. Marco, A. Aracil, G. Gan, J.Rueda, M. Sotelo , A. Posadas, P. Billone, J.L Torá and J. de Meij. He has been awarded a scholarship by I.V.M to carry out composition seminars (2009-2011) being selected by professors J.Mª Sánchez-Verdú and A. Posadas. He selected and received a scholarship for the European Musical Creation Workshop 2013 with Professor Alberto Posadas.
In the field of orchestral conducting, he studied with José R. Pascual-Vilaplana and took advanced courses with Jan Cober. He has conducted several ensembles in Spain and especially in the Valencian Community.
He teaches Harmony, Analysis, Music History and Fundamentals of Composition in several Conservatories of the C. Valenciana; Conservatory "Maestro Ponce" of Chella, Conservatory "Ruperto Chapí" of Elda, Conservatory "Oscar Esplá" of Alicante and currently at the Professional Conservatory of Music of Xábia and the Escola de Música Comarcal de la Vall d'Albaida. He also frequently gives masterclasses on analysis and composition and is invited to be a member of the jury for several composition awards.
