JOSEP MIQUEL MARTINEZ
Born in Quart de les Valls in 1972 (Camp de Morvedre) where he began his studies in the specialty of horn, finishing his higher studies at the Conservatory of Music of Valencia with Professor José Rosell.
He obtained the title of Band Conducting and Music Theory from the Royal School Music, studying with professors Jose R. Pascual Vilaplana and Miquel Rodrigo Tamarit.
He studied Counterpoint and Harmony with Miguel Angel Mateu and continued his composition studies at the Conservatorio Superior de Castellón with professors Ferrer Ferran, Claudia Montero, Miguel Angel Berbis or Cesar Cano among others.
As a composer, he has a catalog with more than 60 works, most of them written for band, but also works for different chamber ensembles, works for soloists and other minor works.
He has been awarded in numerous composition competitions, including the "City of Torrevieja" Composition Prize and the "Euterpe Prize" in the "Symphonic Work" section awarded by the Federation of Musical Societies of the Valencian Community (FSMCV), which he won with his work "Vents del Garbí".
His last prize has been in the I Concurso de pasodobles de la Unión Musical de Gata de Gorgos with his pasodoble titled "Als amics".
Currently, he is the titular conductor of the Unión Musical Cultural of Estivella, where he began conducting in 1998.
He has been the conductor of the "Unión Musical" of Aldaia, the "Lira Saguntina" of Sagunto, the "Lira Borriolenca" of Borriol, the "Santa Cecilia" of Almenara, the Musical Society of Sogorbe and the Musical Union of Massamagrell.
He has directed the Neo-Producciones Orchestra and Ensemble in musical shows such as the “GRAN PARTITA” by W.A. Mozart or the “NUTCRACKER” ballet by P. Tchaikovsky in collaboration with the “AESCENA” dance school and its director Magdalena Fuertes.
At the international level he has conducted as guest conductor at the Academia Musicale "Euterpe" of Siracusa (Sicily-Italy), the Scuola Banda Musicale "P. Mascagni" of Milazzo (Sicily-Italy) as well as in the Banda Comunale "Giuseppe Verdi" of Sinnai (Sicily-Italy).
As a conductor and teacher he has conducted countless bands in concerts and conducting courses where it is worth mentioning Banda Municipal de Castellón, Banda de Narón (La Coruña), Unió Musical de Gata de Gorgos (Alicante), Unió Musical de Serra (Valencia), Unió Musical de Vilafamés and Unió Musical de Calig (Castellón), Banda Municiapal de Marmolejo (Jaen) among others.
