JOSEP VICENT ASENSI SEVA
José Vicente Asensi Seva is a native of Sella (Alicante), where he began his musical training in the Sociedad Unión Musical La Aurora and later completed in the conservatories of Alicante and Valencia. He is currently Professor of Composition at the Conservatorio Superior de Música Óscar Esplá de Alicante where he holds, since July 2012, the position of director.
He also conducts the Polyphonic Choir 'Juan y Ginés Pérez' and the Chamber Orchestra of the Associaciò d'Amics de la Música de Callosa d'En Sarrià. Previously he has been professor-conductor of the music bands of the Unión Musical La Aurora de Sella, Alcoletja, Conservatorio Superior de Música de Murcia, La Primitiva de Callosa d'En Sarrià and the Federació de Societats Musicals de la Comunitat Valenciana, among others.
His catalog of compositions includes choral music, chamber music, music for the Moors and Christians festivals and symphonic music for band. José Vicente Asensi won the first prize for composition and runner-up with the Christian march 'Az-Bo' in the XI National Contest of Festera Music organized by the City Council and the Society of Festeros de Ontinyent in 1994. In 2006 he received a special mention in the competition of the Federació Coral de Catalunya for his work 'Vella Sepharad'.
In addition, he has been a member of numerous composition competitions and music band contests. He also has a large number of recordings and is co-author of the edition of the book 'Recuerdos de juventud' by Tomás de Cotes published in 1999 by the City Council of Callosa d'En Sarrià and the Instituto Alicantino de Cultura Juan Gil-Albert.
José Vicente Asensi is founder and director of l'Escola de Música 'José Seguí' of Callosa d'En Sarrià until the 2002-03 academic year and since 2005 he is assistant director of the Festival Líric Internacional and the Curs d'Alt Perfeccionamente per a Cantants de Callosa d'En Sarrià. He has also taught monographic courses and given conferences and lectures on different subjects.
