JAVIER MARTINEZ FIELDS

Born in Valencia in December 1989. He began his musical studies at the age of 4 years old at the CEDAM Academy in Madrid, continuing the middle grade at the Professional Conservatory of Music in Getafe with Mª Nieves Collado. He studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid the specialties of cello with Professor Iagoba Fanlo, and composition (J. Medina, A. Romero, M. Seco, Z. de la Cruz, B. Dozza, E. Armenteros, A. Carretero), finishing both in 2011 with honors.
From 2005 to 2011 he perfected his cello studies with Miguel Jiménez (soloist of the National Orchestra of Spain).
He has completed the Master of Music and the Konzertexam (Master of Soloist, with honors) at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf (Germany) with Professor Gregor Horsch (soloist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam), studying in Paris (France) in the "Classe d'Excellence" of the Louis Vuitton Foundation with Professor Gautier Capuçon.
He is in possession of the Master's Degree in "Musical Creation and Interpretation" from the Rey Juan Carlos University (Madrid), the Master's Degree in Music Management and the title of "Musical Industry Management Technician" from the Miguel de Cervantes European University - IGECA.
He has attended courses of musical improvement in the specialty of cello with Anner Bylsma, Edgar Gredler, Ángel Luis Quintana, Marie Paule Milone, Christopher Vandespar, Dimas Moreno; and master-classes with Pieter Wispelwey, Jens Peter Maintz, Wen-Sinn Yang, Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, Antoaneta Emanuilova, Alexander Bouzlov, Torleif Thedéen, Johannes Krebs, David Strange, Gregor Horsch, Tamás Varga, Nikolaus Trieb, Jérôme Tétard, Asier Polo and the Quiroga Quartet. In baroque cello with Gaetano Nasillo and Josetxu Obregón (La Ritirata); in composition, instrumentation and orchestration with Leonardo Balada, Ertugrul Sevsay, J. Mª Sánchez Verdú, Bernardo Adam Ferrero, Gregory Fritze (Berklee), Andrés Valero-Castells and Ferrer Ferran; and in conducting with José Rafael Pascual-Vilaplana and Jan Van der Roost.
As a cellist, he has played under the baton of conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Lutz Köhler, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Gianandrea Noseda, Peter Eötvos, Alondra de la Parra, Lorenzo Viotti, Giancarlo Guerrero, David Afkham, Reinbert de Leeuw, Jac van Steen, Erik Nielsen, Christian Zacharías, Alexander Bloch, Pablo González, Eliahu Inbal, Cristóbal Halftter, Juanjo Mena, Antoni Ros Marbá... in auditoriums and concert halls such as Carnegie Hall in New York, Symphony Hall in Boston, Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, National Music Auditorium in Madrid, Palau de la Música in Valencia, Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia, Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, Gubelkian Foundation in Lisbon, Konzerthaus am Gendarmenmarkt Berlin, Kölner Philharmonie, Filharmonia Narodowa in Warsaw, Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, Tokyo International Forum, Royal Opera House Muscat, etc.
He has been Soloist Assistant Cello of the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra (BOS) between 2015-2019, academician of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra (MCO) and the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, member of the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO), Orquesta Juvenil Iberoamericana (OJI), conducted by Gustavo Dudamel, and member and principal cello of the Joven Orquesta Nacional de España (JONDE), the Netherlands Jugend Orchestra (NJO) and the Jove Orquestra de la Generalitat Valenciana (JOGV).
He has collaborated with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra (MCO), Duisburger Philharmoniker, Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, Beethoven Orchester Bonn, Kammeroper Köln, Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, Andrés Segovia Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra, Bilbao Municipal Band, etc.
As a soloist, he has performed with the Symphonieorchesters der RSH Düsseldorf, the Jove Orquestra de la Generalitat Valenciana (JOGV), the Orquestra Simfònica l'Om de Picassent, the Orchestra of the Professional Music Conservatory of Getafe... and has given recitals in auditoriums such as the Tonhalle in Düsseldorf (Germany), Palau de la Música de Valencia, Moeser Auditorium – University of North Carolina (United States), North Carolina Museum of Arts Raleigh, Théâtre du Casino Évian-Les-Bains (France), Auditorium – Fondation Louis Vuitton (France ), Teatre-Auditori de la Vila-Joiosa, etc.
As a composer, he has been resident and invited by the Joven Orquesta Nacional de España (JONDE, 2012, 2016), the Pòdium Matadepera (Barcelona, 2018) and the Festival dels Horts (Valencia, 2019), receiving commissions, in addition, from the Joven National Orchestra of Spain and the Ministry of Culture and Education, the SGAE/AEOS Foundation – Bilbao Symphony Orchestra, the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music INAEM, L'Orchestre Parfum (Paris), Antara Korai Choir Association, the Board Central Fallera de Valencia, the Cor Valencià de Clarinets, Montserrat Town Hall or the Municipal Band of Txistularis de Bilbao - BilbaoMusika, among others.
