JOSE UREÑA EIRAS
Born in Ontinyent (Valencia) in 1984. He began his musical studies at the Conservatory "José Melchor Gomis" of Ontinyent where he studied the elementary grade. He continued his studies at the Professional Conservatory "Mestre Vert" in Carcaixent, where he studied trumpet at the intermediate level, under the tutelage of trumpet teacher Salvador Albert, highlighting, among others, the teaching of teachers Oscar Creus, Enrique Hernandis and Francisco Javier Costa (Harmony, Analysis and Fundamentals of Composition).
Later, he studied choir conducting specialties at the Madrid Royal Conservatory of Music, with maestro Adrián Cobo, and orchestra conducting, with maestros Antonio Moya and Mercedes Padilla, finishing both specialties with top marks. She also studies composition, with teachers Manuel Seco and Zulema de la Cruz, among others.
He has taken trumpet courses with professors Benjamín Moreno and Eric Aubier, with whom he obtained for two consecutive years the qualification of outstanding in the final evaluations. He also took courses in harmony and fundamentals of composition with Maestro Salvador Chuliá, where he was also commissioned to write the closing piece for the XVII International Music Course of Benidorm. He studies counterpoint and composition with Maestro Enrique Hernandis, and since 2005 in numerous courses of musical improvement, he studies conducting with the distinguished Maestro Enrique García Asensio, being one of his favorite students, as well as his assistant teacher in various courses.
Since 1997 he belongs to the Societat Unió Artística Musical de Ontinyent, where he has been director of one of the chamber groups that the entity owns, director of its music school, as well as director of the orchestra and choir of the same, teacher of musical language, trumpet, singing, harmony, etc., besides being the assistant director of the music band and later President of the entity. He has been director of the rondalla and choir of the CEAM of Ontinyent, as well as director of the Choral Group of the same municipality. He was also trumpet teacher at the music school of the musical society "Vila de Bocairent". He was also music teacher in extracurricular activities at the school La Concepción de Ontinyent, and teacher of musical language at the school Mater Salvatoris in Madrid, and at the music academy 4 Cuerdas in that city. During the 2014/2015 academic year he has been director of the municipal choir of Valdeluz (Guadalajara).
From July 2004, until January 2014, he was the conductor of the symphonic band of the Agrupació-Escola Musical "La Nova" of l'Ollería, with which he obtained great achievements and successes throughout his almost a decade at the helm, besides being the director and teacher of its music school in various subjects. From February 2006 to December 2013 he was the conductor of the polyphonic choir "Arpa d'Or" of Alcántera de Xuquer, and from June 2012 to December 2013 conductor of the choral society "Nou Orfeó" of Ontinyent.
He has been invited to conduct numerous bands and choirs throughout the Spanish geography, highlighting his activity in the Valencian Community, Catalonia, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Community of Madrid, and Andalusia.
During the course 2014/2015 he was professor of the specialty of band conducting at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Castilla-La Mancha, being the first time that this specialty is taught in an official Spanish conservatory, and being him, the first teacher who occupied that chair.
He is currently a choir and orchestra teacher at the "Luigi Boccherini" municipal music school in Arenas de San Pedro (Ávila), and a choir teacher at the "Ramón Garay" professional music conservatory in Jaén.
As a composer he has to his credit more than 40 musical works of all styles and for all types of ensembles. His music has been performed all over Spain, as well as in the United States.
