JOSEP ESCANDELL I VILA
Born in Alzira where he studied his first musical studies at the Alzira Musical Society, under the direction of maestro Francesc Hernández Guirado. Subsequently, he extended his medium and higher studies with the specialty of saxophone, also studied choir conducting with the maestro Eduard Cifre, at the Conservatory of Music in Valencia. He has also taken courses of atonal music of the 20th century with the composer César Cano.
It is worth mentioning the solid training in harmony, counterpoint, fugue, composition and orchestra conducting received from the teachers José Mª Cervera Lloret and José Mª Cervera Collado. Today he completes his studies in composition and orchestra conducting with the latter.
He teaches classes as a harmony and musical analysis teacher at the Plana de Utiel Professional Conservatory. He is currently the principal director of the Ateneo Musical and Cultural Band of Albalat de la Ribera, where he has won various awards, highlighting the first prize and honorable mention with the highest score from the jury in the “Ciutat de Valencia” International Music Band Competition. (2001). He is also the principal conductor of the Youth Band and Choir of the Alzira Musical Society and participates as guest conductor in the “Empordà” Chamber Orchestra, the Logroño Symphony Orchestra, the Cervera Lloret Orchestra and the Ploiesti Philharmonic Orchestra of Romania. .
