JOHN FCO. SANJUAN RODRIGO
Juan Fco. Sanjuán Rodrigo, began his studies in his native town, Muro de Alcoi (Alicante), continued at the Alcoi, San Vicente del Raspeig (Alicante) and Ontinyent (Valencia) Conservatories in both with excellent grades, and finally achieved the Extraordinary End of Higher Degree Prize unanimously by the Tribunal in the specialty of trumpet from the Superior Conservatory of Castelló de la Plana, he also obtained the First Prize in the European Competition by Regions Ravel - Granados and the Euterpe Prize granted by the Federation of Musical Societies of the Valencian Community.
At the same time, he broadened his trumpet studies in numerous improvement courses with internationally renowned professors such as Malcom McNab, Ole Antonsen, Alfonso Faus Segarra, Philiph Smith, Enrique Rioja, Juan C. Alandete, Urban Agnas, Benjamín Moreno, Vicente Oliver, Vincent Campos. Participates in the orchestras "Pablo Sarasate de Pamplona", "Atrium de Ontinyent", "Orquesta Castellón XXI", Orquestra de Vents Filharmonia", "Municipal Band of Alicante", "Band of the FSMCV", Alcoyana Symphony Orchestra "and numerous groups Amateur band music in Concerts, CD Recordings and Contests.
COMPOSITION
In the field of composition, he studied in various courses and seminars on harmony, analysis, early music, contemporary music with professors Enrico Fubini, Jaime Linares, Joan Cerveró, Manuel Tomás, Salvador Seguí, José Chafino, Tomás Gilabert and Francisco Zacarés. He took his first steps with maestro José R. Pascual Vilaplana and with maestro Juan C. Sempere Bomboí, obtaining First Prize in the IV Vila de Pego Composition Contest with the Moorish march “Al Bagi”, and in two editions of the Contest Composition for dulzaina Vila de Muro won a Second Prize with the composition for dulzainas and percussion “Estraxa” dedicated to the Escola Tradicional de la Xafigà, and an Honorable Mention with the marxa mora “Encant”.
In 2011 – 2012, he studied composition with Óscar Navarro González, at the Baix Maestrat School (www.ecdbaixmaestrat.com), leading him to win the Composition Contest Prize in June 2012 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the loss of José Mª Ferrero Pastor organized by the UNDEF and the FSMCV, with the Moorish march “Mestre Ferrero”, just as the rules of the contest established.
Also in December of the same year, he obtained the Second Prize of the Jury of the II Composition Contest for the Three Kings Parade organized by the Association of Three Kings of Ibi, with the "Rab Magh" march.
In September 2013 he wins the Prize of the I Contest of pasodobles fernando tormo ibáñez with the pasodoble "Herminia". In December of the same year he wins the Prize of the III Composition Contest for Three Kings Parades organized by the Association of Three Kings of Ibi, with the march "Temps de Llum". He has also been finalist in several composition contests in Zamora, Zaragoza, Benidorm, and Callosa d'En Sarrià.
He has received commissions for this last composition, also from the association of Moors and Christians of Gaibiel with the march "Moros de Gaibiel", from the captaincy of the filà Verds de Muro with the Moorish march "Sajo", from the band of the CAM of Jávea for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of "Bartolomé Català" as musician of the entity with a pasodoble with his name, for the Christian captain of the festivities of Callosa d'En Sarrià called "Capitania Mestre", of a piece for bagpipes, brass and percussion called "Guerrers del Nord" for the entrance of Cristianos de Pego, also in 2013 performs a Moorish march dedicated to the town of Benamaurel called "Avenmoriel - Huella del Milenio del Reino de Granada".
Later he participates as active in the course of the I Jornadas de Composición para banda with the maestro Johan de Meij organized by the Conservatorio de Jávea. In 2013 he attended a Master Class organized by the school of Music Ad Libitum of Ontinyent with the maestro Andrés Valero.

At the same time, he studied band conducting with José Rafael Pascual Vilaplana at the Vall de Albaida Regional School, obtaining the end-of-study diploma and taking numerous improvement courses with teachers Jan Cober, Henry Adams, Eugene Corporon, Miguel Rodrigo Tamarit, Jesús López Cobos, Salvador Sebastià, Georg Sargashyan, Paco Melero, Rafael Sanz Espert and Maurizio Colasanti.
In July 2013 he received a scholarship from the Department of the Interior of the Valencian Community to carry out the summer course on Band Management organized by the Berklee University in Valencia in the Active Modality with Professor Rafael Sanz Espert.
He has directed uninterruptedly since 1999, being deputy director of the band of the Unión Musical de Muro de Alcoi (2000/2001) and of his youth band (1999/2001), the school band of the Agrupación Musical de Ontinyent (2002/2003), the band Unión Musical de l'Orxa (1999 – 2006) and the Alcoyana Youth Orchestra (2009/2010).
He has also been invited to conduct his own compositions in bands from the provinces of Alicante, Valencia and Granada such as those of Campello, Callosa d'En Sarrià, Muro de Alcoi, Ontinyent, Planes de la Baronía, Cocentaina, Adzeneta d'Albaida , Beniarrés, L'Orxa, Pego, Bocairent, Biar, Benamaurel and the Colla de Dolçainers “El Mal Passet” from Cocentaina.
He has been a member of the Jury of the Choral Contest of L'Orxa and three times of the Parade Contest of the Moors and Christians Festival of Albaida.
CURRENT
He is currently a teacher at the schools of L'Orxa, Unión Musical de Alcoi, Gorga, at the Da Capo School and the Albaida Municipal Professional Conservatory, and in the Trumpet Improvement courses of the Grau de Gandia and Albaida, in addition to being the Director of the Musical Art Center of Jávea since December 2006.
This academic year 2013 – 2014 improves his knowledge of composition with Ramón Garcia i Soler.
He is a member of the ACMMIC (Association of Moors and Christians Music Composers) and the ANDB (National Association of Band Directors).
He is in possession of the CAP (Certificate of Pedagogical Aptitude) issued by the Polytechnic University of Barcelona.
